In a tragic turn of events, Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Zachary Fink, 26, died in the line of duty early Friday morning. The incident occurred during a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 while Fink was in pursuit of a fleeing felon.

Fink was rushed to HCA Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce following the accident, where he succumbed to his injuries. His death marks a significant loss for the Florida law enforcement community, who have come together to honor their fallen comrade.

“Trooper Fink died a hero protecting and serving his community,” said FHP Colonel Gary Howze II. “After speaking with his family, I can say that Zachary was a devoted public servant dedicated to keeping our streets safe.”

Fink’s death comes as a sobering reminder of the risks law enforcement officers face daily. He is the latest law enforcement officer to die in the line of duty on the Treasure Coast.

Our thoughts are with Trooper Fink’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. His courage and commitment to serving his community will not be forgotten.
