“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: My God; in Him will I trust.” Psalm 91:1-2
Lorenzo “Wydell” Manley, affectionately known as Daddy, PaPa, and Superhero by his children and grandchildren transitioned from his earthly tabernacle on Monday, October 9, 2023, at his home. He was the oldest of six children born to the late Otis Manley Sr. and Margie Engram of Chesapeake, VA on September 28, 1960.
Lorenzo was educated in the Norfolk Public School system. He was a 1980 graduate of Lake Taylor High School. After high school, Lorenzo worked at Norfolk State University in the Maintenance Department for 20 years. Lorenzo, seeking new challenges, decided to move on where he worked as a Forklift operator at the Navy Exchange Command for over 20 years. Wanting to keep busy, he worked part-time as a site supervisor for Global Cleaning Services Corporation.
Lorenzo loved the Lord and was a dedicated member of Trinity Faith Diamond for over 20 years. He served in two ministries, the Male Usher Board and Kingdom Warriors.
Lorenzo enjoyed spending time with his family creating memories by always taking pictures to remind him of the event. A proud father and grandfather who was not shy about sharing photos informing others of how much he loved his family. He will always be remembered for his special saying, “I love you more.” Lorenzo was an avid fisherman, a great cook who enjoyed watching all sports. His favorite teams were the Baltimore Ravens, Alabama Crimson Tides, and the Boston Celtics. He would often let you know the team he was representing that day by the attire he was wearing.
Lorenzo was predeceased by his father, Otis Manley Sr, Maternal Grandparents, Paul and Alberto Engram, and Paternal Grandparents, Frank and Mollie Manley.
Left to cherish his fond memories is his mother Margie Engram, his children, Lorenzo Moore II (Kansas City, Kansas), Nastasia Manley (Atlanta, GA), Chantel Manley (Salisbury, Maryland), Unique Manley, Rakeem Manley, Shynik Manley and Kena Sessoms all of Norfolk, VA; 12 grandchildren; Siblings: Loredo (John) Drew, Evelyn (Wardell) Freeman, Otis Manley Jr., Letha (Mike) Shaw, Donnetta (James) Avery; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Lorenzo had a special friend whom he referred to as “Queen B.”
